A conception of Wangeesa thero proposed to the donors to create a diminutive chaitya. The Chief of the temple, Ven. Bopitiye Dhammawansa Thero, the chief incumbent of the Meevatura Sangabodhi Viharaya, informed the clergy that he had settled the land. The monk arranged the construction of the temple on the top of the temple premises.

On the 19th of May 2013, with the participation of all the people, a sacred offering was made to the four Gods and the Irugul Bandara to commence the work. The foundation stone was laid on the auspicious time of 06.45 am on 20.05.2013.
